I PLAY MY ENEMIES LIKE A GAME OF CHESS

I talked about how chess has inspired me lately in my last post.

For this pastel brush rendering, I created a wooden chess board with glossy sculptural piece, and hemmed around it with Lauryn Hill’s lyrics from the classic Fugees song “Ready or Not” like the tall hedges of an English garden maze. You can also hear the sample of that line in the Fugees song “The Score,” which I used in the behind-the-scene animated video version of this image below.
